An all star line up What we've been up to this month: Since our last update the academic year has begun and FBB have expanded our reach even further. We now work with over 1,000 young people in London, Kent, Essex and the North West, across 56 different programmes. Here are some of the highlights from the past few months: We launched our new website using a series of videos which demonstrate our impact. These received over 3k views on IG and 40k on Twitter. You can check out the new site here: www.footballbeyondborders.org We held a workshop with Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend exploring resilience, delving into his experiences as a professional footballer. He spoke of his own exclusion from school and how that affected his journey Former Arsenal and England full back Alex Scott came to our offices in Brixton to film a segment for Strictly Come Dancing Liverpool player Rhian Brewster picked out some impressive FBB representatives at the Elevate football tournament Burnley Captain Ben Mee visited our programmes in Burnley FBB collaborated with Grime MC Yizzy for his Hustle Hard music video collaboration and held a session on resilience with him Our patron Chris Smalling and met with one of our participants Pierre to promote healthy eating amongst young people After the racist abuse from the Bulgaria fans during England’s game against them in the international break, our Comms manager Kelvyn and participant Cerny appeared on Channel 5 commenting on racism in the game and the effect that it has on young people FBB Participant Macdonald sat on a panel at the UK Active conference to discuss the importance of physical activity in preventing youth violence. He highlighted the importance of relatable role models and in particular the effect his FBB mentor Timi had on him.
