What we've been up to this month:

We are thrilled that our 2016 grant from Raise Your Hands is going towards supporting our 8th annual support camp this August and we've been flat out with preparations.

Children aged 11- 16 with HIV from around the UK and Ireland, will attend the week long camp. This year we're heading to the Peak District in Derbyshire. Participants will take part in workshops helping them better understand their HIV. They'll learn about new medicines and research. And they'll take part in outward bound activities, creative arts and performance sessions, exploring their experiences and feelings around HIV through art, drama, music and poetry.

8 years ago we ran our first support camp and our youth committee named it 'Freedom to Be' - reflecting the unique opportunity to be open and free around living with HIV.

Thank you to all the Raise Your Hands members for enabling us to deliver our camp. Many children come having never met another young person who lives with HIV and the experience of meeting other young people who share their experiences can be truly transformative. They build friendships and support networks that continue well beyond camp and lay foundations for a more positive future.
