Grief Encounter May 17 What we've been up to this month: Happy Meals & Happy Lives A few weeks ago, McDonalds launched a new advertising campaign which focussed on a bereaved child. Although we welcomed bringing children's grief into the media spotlight, we felt the campaign was badly executed. As a result of our many interviews and comments on the ad, McDonalds decided to pull the campaign, apologising for any upset caused to any families affected. Watch Dr Shelley Gilbert on Good Morning Britain discussing the campaign here. Manchester Terror Attack Once again, we sadly find ourselves offering advice on how to speak to children following a terrorist attack on our doorsteps - this time in Manchester. If you or your family has been affected by the tragedies that took place last week, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Read more from Dr Shelley Gilbert. Family Fun Day This week saw Grief Encounter HQ host our annual Family Fun Day in the grounds of Avenue House. Inviting families past and present, the day is for children and adults alike to be together. We had a great turnout with over 100 families attending. Bouncy castles, balloon modelling, karaoke and memory flower planting were among the activities, and a great day was had by all. Jeff Brazier We are so proud and excited for our wonderful patron, Jeff Brazier, on the launch of his debut book 'The Grief Survival Guide: How to Navigate Loss and All that Comes With It'. Available to pre-order on Amazon in June, Jeff has been telling his story to the media this week and publicising his link as patron to Grief Encounter. We are so proud of the journey he has been on with his two wonderful sons, and so thankful for all the help he has given us! Good luck Jeff, we can't wait to read it.
