Hitting 2019 running What we've been up to this month: CHIVA hit the ground running in 2019 with HIV education and peer meet up events happening all over the country. In Oxford our Youth Committee held their first residential meeting of the year, they had a session with ‘Debate Mate’ a fantastic organisation which supports young people to develop skills in public speaking, framed around debating. Our Youth Committee have a key role at our annual conference and speak to an auditorium full of doctors and other health professionals about what they need from their health care; ‘Debate Mate’ were a great support to help them prepare for this. In Liverpool a group met at the Liverpool World museum and had a mindfulness session in the planetarium. Our ‘Art is Key’ project 2019 also kicked off and young people aged 17-21 attended a residential beginning work on a series of PodCasts they will be developing using drama, poetry and music to share stories of growing up with HIV. Finally our younger group had a day in Bristol together working on an animation resource they have been developing with the Association for Young Peoples Health. Quite a start to the year!
