Mousetrap Apr 18 What we've been up to this month: Students from Little Heath Special School in Essex were over the moon with our Explore programme this month! Two groups of students with a range of special needs took part in space themed games and exercises which aimed to increase their confidence and communication skills through teamwork. They worked hard together over the course of one week to create an astronomical short performance based on these games, which they shared with an audience of family members and fellow students at the end of the project. When asked what the benefits of these workshops were, the teacher said, "I think it gives them freedom, freedom of expression without having any pressure. It gives them a voice. Samiya is non-verbal with very complex needs but she joined in with John, she interacted with him intensely and it was absolutely amazing.” Explore is our programme for special schools. Students get to see a West End show and take part in a series of bespoke drama workshops which explore themes and skills of the teacher’s choice.
