What we've been up to this month:

This month at PAPYRUS we’ve been looking at our campaigns and how our supporters can help us save young lives. Here’s 10 of our biggest campaigns so far:

1)     Changing the law
Applying the Criminal Standard of Proof to suicide perpetuates stigma and obscures the true scale of suicide in England and Wales

2)     Improving services
Services providers do not always meet the needs of those at risk of suicide - we campaign to improve access to quality and timely support

3)     Building suicide-safer schools
Over 200 school children are lost to suicide every year in the UK – we need a school-wide approach to suicide prevention

4)     Mandating suicide prevention training
We believe this must be a requirement for all healthcare professionals

5)     Working towards a suicide-safer internet
PAPYRUS continue to press government, social networks and internet service providers to reduce online suicide risks to children and young people

6)     Encouraging sensitive and appropriate reporting
We encourage and monitor responsible reporting of young suicide

7)     Stopping suicide stigma in the insurance industry
We believe that life insurance policies must not exclude suicide

8)     Better information sharing
Working with professionals to understand the appropriateness of information sharing to prevent young suicide

9)     Talking openly about suicide
Language matters. We aim to equip people with the worlds and skills ot kick-start a life-saving conversation

10)   Learning lessons
Involving families in investigations into suicide so that lived experience can help prevent future suicides
