Sport 4 Life Oct 18 What we've been up to this month: We’re delighted to launch our new 2018 Impact Report! Over the last 12 months, we have been working hard to support even more young people. We have supported 476 young people to achieve 877 combined tangible outcomes (an increase of 90 from 2017), a record number for Sport 4 Life UK. Through our work, we’ve been able to support young people like Ben and Alima. Ben is a single parent of three young children who had spent 10 years out of work, and had a history of poor mental health and drug taking. Mentors supported Ben to turn his life around, helping him to change his lifestyle, to improve his employability skills, and to secure a job. Ben gained qualifications and took part in mock interviews and employability workshops to improve his technical skills which ultimately led to him finding a job. “I can’t thank Sport 4 Life enough for supporting me to get my first job in 10 years. It’s been life changing.” Alima loves to play football and is a promising player but found she had to battle hard find opportunities for herself. She was of a very quiet and nervous disposition when she joined Sport 4 Life. Coaches and mentors made Alima feel welcome at sessions, giving her the encouragement and platform to find her voice. Alima completed a leadership qualification where she developed her communication skills and confidence. She now volunteers to support young girls in sport. “Sport 4 Life helped to bring me out of my shyness and gave me the confidence to speak up and express myself in front of others.” Click here to read our Impact Report in full.
