What we've been up to this month:

It’s been a busy two months at Create, with our project team delivering creative arts workshops with young carers, teenagers with mental ill-health, young patients in hospitals and more. The highlight of the past few months came on 10 November, when 23 young carers from across London took part in the Lord Mayor’s Show with us.

To celebrate the City of London and its new Lord Mayor, the young carers worked with our professional artist Jack Cornell to create mobile sculptures and banners inspired by the Lord Mayor’s theme for his year in office, ‘Shaping Tomorrow’s City Today’. Their fantastical creations formed Create’s walking float, which the young carers – and we! - paraded through the City from Bank to Aldwych, greeted all the way by cheering crowds. You can read all about the Lord Mayor’s Show on our website.

One of the young carers who took part in the parade was 13-year-old Abi, who cares for her brother who has autism. Click here to watch the BBC made a short film about Abi’s caring responsibilities and her experience taking part in Create workshops.
